What if the everyday decisions of employees helped the company achieve its sustainability goal?

Navico Group had a clear sustainability strategy, and knew that delivering it would need the day-to-day involvement of everyone in the business. To achieve this, Today Do This led high-energy workshops with their enthusiastic staff, from Mexico to the Netherlands to New Zealand.

In each session, attendees came up with an idea for how they could contribute to Navico Group’s sustainability goals, taking into account their individual skills and responsibilities. The workshops gave them the time, space and permission to start taking action, there and then, using our six-step process inspired by Martin Luther King’s six steps of nonviolent social change. After the workshops, each participant received additional resources via email, helping them overcome common obstacles so they can continue making progress.

The outcome

  • More than 40 projects started including: incorporating sustainability into innovation and design processes; putting sustainability on a par with quality, cost, and technical support when selecting suppliers; and reducing the use of paper in sales and support materials

  • Measurable increase in attendees’ confidence in their ability to help make the business more sustainable

“So practical! So inspiring - as we heard from others what they were doing, and it really cross-pollinated and gave everyone new ideas, and showed that sustainability is possible. It worked for people at all levels, and also enabled people to make connections within the company. Fabulous.”
